We are growing almost 50 varieties of garlic for 2024. Although growing that many varieties is a passion of mine, I am not so much of a garlic connoisseur to have strong opinions about flavor. I like all of them!

We have 4 of the main types, or groups, of garlic. Artichoke softneck, and Rocambole, Porcelain and Purple Stripe (including regular purple stripe, marbled purple stripe and glazed purple stripe) hardneck. If you are buying garlic to grow, why not try one of each group?

Artichoke 

Stores the longest and has the most cloves per bulb but we do not have any available to sel this year.

Rocambole

Averages 8-12 cloves per bulb and doesn't store as well.

 

Porcelain

Very hardy but averages only 4 cloves per bulb. Stores well.

 

Purple Stripes

Medium storage capacity and 8-10 cloves per bulb.
